Thirty years before the Wonderland Race Track was built, the site was given its name by the Wonderland Amusement Park. Conceived by a man in the Baking Soda industry who bought the land and planned by a man who had failed to build the biggest park in Coney Island. Wonderland was filled with cutting-edge rides and attractions. Its opening day broke attendance records at Revere Beach, and the park was a major success. Author Stephen R. Wilk has been researching the park for his forthcoming book Backstage at Wonderland, and will talk about the building of the park and its first year of operation, 1906.
