WILMINGTON, MA — Judy L. Kenson, Age 73, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2019 with her family at her side.
Judy was the beloved wife of George Kenson for over 34 years. She was a doggy mom to Charite, Jenny, and Nikki, all black toy poodles, often joining her dogs in doggy school. She was a stepmother to George’s daughters, Kim Kenson and Pam DiPesa. Judy was also the loving grandmother of Taylor, Ryan and Heather. Devoted daughter of the late Francis and Lee Zaruba of Fostoria, OH. Judy was a sister to Sally Jinks, Janet Porter, and Jean Zaruba and aunt to Brian Jinks.`
In retirement, Judy was a board member of NAMI and taught Family-to-Family courses helping many families cope with mental illness. Judy was a respected Quality Engineer at Raytheon in Woburn. Judy worked until age 70 as every time she wanted to retire they asked her to stay just a bit longer. She started her career as a science teacher at Methacton Middle School.
Everyone will miss Judy in their own way, George will miss going on trips in the motorhome with Judy. In particular, he will miss going to Disney World with her each winter, camping by the ocean in the summer, and visiting the White Mountains in the fall. Judy loved traveling with George and would often tell the story of an early date with George where he flew her to Nantucket in his plane.
Kim will miss the way that Judy became the family organizer and made sure that there was always a plan to get together on holidays and birthdays. She would organize trips to Maine and invite everyone in the family to come and share the vacation homes she would rent at her expense. She was a very powerful woman and I will miss just spending time with her just conversing about life.
Pam, Heather, Taylor, and Ryan will miss Judy deeply, “Judy meant the world to us, she was always there for me and my 3 children. She helped all three by providing a no cost college education to each of her husband’s grandchildren. She was a best friend to me, when I needed to talk and a source of strength for the whole family. Judy kept our whole family together as one, always including all members at Summer vacation house every year. Judy cared for my father and interests , and had a great sense of humor. “Words can’t describe what an amazing person she was. She will always be missed but in our hearts forever.”
Louise remembers Judy as her best friend for fifty years. She will miss the time that they played together… tennis, skiing, bridge, and gourmet cooking. “Judy listened to my woes and gave me sound advice. I will truly miss her.”
Brian will miss visiting “Aunt Judy” and going on adventures like visiting historic sites in and around Massachusetts. Judy and Brian had so much in common… cooking, love of history, and being nerds that he will deeply miss coming for visits.
Judy’s services will be private.
