LIBRARY LINEUP: Town Wide Yard Sale Coming Up On June 8, Deadline To Host A Sale Is June 1

WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a list of FREE upcoming programs for adults, teens and kids at the Wilmington Memorial Library.

Registration begins 30 days prior to the event. Please register online using our Calendar of Events at www.wilmlibrary.org or by calling (978) 694-2099 (for Adult) or (978) 694-2098 (for Children/Teen). Please note we request registration for programs that are marked *RR. Thank you to the Friends of the Library for funding support for library programs!

Adult Events

Creative Writing Skills Group*RR
Tuesday,
May 28, 7 pm
Learn and apply creative writing tips, tools, and techniques shared by published authors and other writing experts. Open to all who want to improve their creative writing skills and get their work published. Led by local writing enthusiast Barbara Alevras.

Garden Stepping Stone *RR
Thursday, May 30, 6 – 8 pm (16+, $25)
Create your own garden stepping stone in this stained glass mosaic workshop led by Leslie Doherty, Ways of Color. No experience is necessary, all tools and materials are provided. Register at main desk.

Fiction Critique Group*RR
Saturday, June 1, 9:15 11:30 am

Love writing fiction? Whether you are drafting a short story or a novel, joining our Critique Group is a great opportunity to meet other writers and get constructive feedback in a supportive environment. When registering, please provide your email address so you can receive an agenda and any prep materials before the meeting. Open to all experience levels writing in all genres. Led by local writing enthusiast, Barbara Alevras.

Pleasure Island Memories*RR
Monday, June 3, 2:30 pm
Bob McLaughlin, founder of the Friends of Pleasure Island, will talk about the history of the theme park known as “Disneyland East”. Pleasure Island, located in Wakefield, operated from 1959-1969 and drew thousands of visitors each year.  Learn about this former summer attraction; bring your memories and your photos.

Town Wide Yard Sale
Saturday, June 8, 8 am- 2 pm
Join us for the 5thannual Town Wide Yard Sale. Over 70 Wilmington households held yard sales last year  and many hundreds of shoppers found bargains at the Town Wide Yard Sale – don’t be left out! For those wishing to hold a yard sale at their home, the application fee is $15 (Deadline is Saturday, June 1). The fee includes yard sale signs and lots of publicity. For shoppers, maps of yard sale locations will be available at the library and at Market Basket starting Wednesday, June 5.

Kids Events

Drop-In Baby Times
Saturday, June 1, 9:30 am
Babies and their caregivers will enjoy this fun storytime that includes rhymes, songs, books, scarves, shakers, bubbles and more. Infants through 24 months 

Stories and Sweets
Saturday,June 1, 10:30
Start your Saturday morning with great stories (and songs and rhymes) and a few sweet treats at this special family storytime. Ages 2-5 and one or more adults.

Kids Kraft: Painted Rocks *RR
Saturday, June 8, 2 pm
Create your own unique rock, it can be anything you want it to be! This craft is led by 3 Wilmington High School students. Grades 1-5.

Looking to find some treasure on your next walk? Borrow the library’s metal detector (7 day loan).

Memorial Day Weekend Schedule
The library will be closed on Saturday May 25 through Monday May 27 in observance of Memorial Day. Please note that the library will be open on Saturdays year round beginning this summer.
