Dear Editor,
I get so frustrated when I read a “Letter to the Editor” supporting the incumbents running for the position of Town Selectman. Especially when this support comes from other leaders within our community, because I feel that these letters are implying that “life is good,” “don’t rock the boat” and that “change is scary.”
In spite of what these letters want to convince me of, I believe:
“Comfort and the fear of change are the great enemies of success.” – Jeanette Coron
On April 9th 2019 each candidate was asked whether a vote passed by the residents of Wilmington was a “good idea” or a “bad idea”, here were some of the responses;
- Rob Fasulo – “Just because I don’t like change. It’s a tough change for me to swallow, but…it’s necessary”
- Kevin Caira – “It was a good thought, but I opposed it”
- Greg Bendel – “I voted against (it)”
- Suzanne Sullivan – “Absolutely for it! It’s about time we started taking responsibility for our trash”
You have probably figured out by the last response that these opinions were given with regards to the new ban on plastic bags in the Town of Wilmington. However, you may not know that Saturday April 27th is not only Voting Day here in Wilmington, but it is also “Spring Town Clean-Up Day”.
This year on Voting Day/Town Clean-Up Day I hope you will elect change in our community and join me in voting for Rob Fasulo and Suzanne Sullivan for Town Selectman as well as getting rid of some of the trash that has accumulated since our last Town Clean-Up Day.
Thank you,
Ethan Sawyer
