POLICE LOG for March 15: Hit & Runs In Lots At Market Basket & Colonial Mall; Erratic Driver Tosses Nips Out Window

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are highlights of the Wilmington Police Log for Friday, March 15, 2019:

  • Police received an alert from a Sirius XM panic button activated in a vehicle on Eleanor Drive. Police were unable to locate. A callback from a family member confirmed there was no emergency. (7:21am)
  • Fire Department responded to a gas issue on Columbia Street. (2:34pm)
  • A walk-in reported that while parked in the Colonial Mall parking lot between 12:30pm and 2pm, his vehicle was struck. It appeared a vehicle backed into his front bumper. (2:39pm)
  • A Market Basket employee witnessed a hit and run accident. Police obtained a photo from security footage. Wilmington Police contacted Lowell Police to send a cruiser by the vehicle owner’s home and verify damage. (2:53pm)
  • A caller reported an erratic operator on Federal Street. Operator appeared to have thrown empty nips out the window. Police unable to locate. (5:58pm)
  • Police stopped an erratic operator on Concord Street who was swerving and driving at inconsistent speeds. Elderly male driver checked OK. He was trying to find his way home from Billerica to North Reading. (8:46pm)
