SELECTMEN NEWS: Big Issues To Be Discussed At Monday, March 11 Meeting

WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Board of Selectmen meets this Monday, March 11, 2019 at Town Hall (Room 9) at 7pm. An Executive Session precedes the meeting at 6pm.

There are some noteworthy items on the agenda, including:

  • Selectmen will hold a public hearing on the acceptance of Mink Run Road and Pomfret Road at Annual Town Meeting. Selectmen will also receive information on the matter from Planning Director Valerie Gingrich and Town Engineer Paul Alunni.
  • Selectmen will review and discuss the proposed Town Meeting Warrant. Selectmen will then consider closing and signing the warrant.
  • Selectmen will be discussing letters recently sent by the town and its legislative delegation to the Metropolitan Planning Organization relative to the reconstruction of a portion of Route 38 and intersection improvements to the Lowell Street and Woburn Street.
  • Town Manager Jeff Hull will provide an update on the Town’s Inhabitant Bylaw Study Committee and Town Meeting Review Committee.
  • Hull will provide an update on upcoming open meeting law and public records law training for Wilmington town board members.
  • Hull will provide an update on the Board of Appeals procedure for issuing decisions.
  • Hull will provide an update on the town’s efforts to reach out to Richard Gallant, the new owner of the Ristuccia Arena.
  • Selectmen will consider the request of Board of Appeals Chair Daniel Veerman relative to a disclosure in accordance with Chapter 268A, Section 20 (b) relative to an application for a special permit by the 4th of July Committee.
  • Selectmen will consider a licensing agreement with the Wilmington Farmers Market.
  • Selectmen will consider vehicular safety measures from the intersection at Shawsheen Avenue and Hopkins Street to the Billerica Line.
  • Selectmen will consider a request to light the Town Common blue during the month of April in observance of Autism Awareness.
  • Selectmen will consider the request of resident Michael Murphy to fly the “Donate Life” flag at Wilmington Town Hall in recognition of April being National Organ Donor Month.

The meeting will be telecast live by Wilmington Community Television on WCTV — Channel 9 on Comcast and Channel 37 on Verizon.  The meeting will also be streamed on WCTV’s website HERE.
