Wilmington’s Patrick Giroux To Run Boston Marathon To Benefit Dana-Farber

BOSTON, MA — The 2019 Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge is pleased to announce Patrick Giroux, a native of Wilmington, MA and Realtor with Wilson Wolfe Real Estate in Wilmington, will be running the 2019 Boston Marathon on April 15th.

Giroux, a life-long Wilmington native and 2012 graduate of Wilmington High School will be running his first marathon alongside approximately 500 Dana-Farber teammates from across the United States and around the world. Giroux will run the historic 26.2-mile route from Hopkinton to Boston to help raise the team’s goal of $6 million for cancer research.

Giroux is excited to participate in his first marathon, especially as a Charity runner.

“Running the marathon has always been a dream of mine,” Giroux said. “Dana-Farber’s world-class cancer treatment and programs are second to none, and it is a true honor to run on behalf of a world-class institution that enables support, courage and treatment to those suffering from this awful disease.”

Giroux is currently fundraising and hopes to raise $10,000 by Marathon Monday. Every dollar raised directly impacts the Dana-Farber Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research that supports science research in its earliest stages.

Giroux mentions running 26.2 miles is nothing compared to the hardships that past, current and future cancer patients endure, and it is with confidence all monies raised will impact the quality of life for cancer patients.
