Wilmington State Trooper To Be Honored At Tonight’s Bruins Game

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington’s Tom Devlin, a State Trooper recovering from injuries sustained while on the job, will be honored for his sacrifice at tonight’s Boston Bruins game at TD Boston Garden.

In July, Devlin was on a motor vehicle stop on Route 3 in Billerica when he was struck by a car. At the time he was struck, Devlin was out of his cruiser talking with the motorist stopped for a traffic violation. A second vehicle, a 2012 Toyota Prius operated by a 53-year-old Haverhill man, drifted from the right lane into the breakdown lane, striking Devlin and pinning him between the two vehicles.

Devlin, a 33-year veteran with the State Police, sustained injuries to both his upper and lower body, including a gash to the forehead, multiple bruises, a concussion, and a shattered ankle.

Devlin will be undergoing his third ankle surgery this March as he continues on the road to recovery.
