WILMINGTON, MA — Below are 5 things to do in Wilmington on Wednesday, February 20, 2019:
#1) Wilmington Senior Center’s Memory Cafe
The Wilmington Senior Center’s “Our Moment Cafe” is holding its monthly meeting from 1pm to 2:30pm at the 4th of July Building (142 Middlesex Avenue). A memory cafe is a special gathering place for those dealing with memory loss and their caregivers. The Cafe gives the person with memory loss, and their caregivers, an opportunity to socialize, participate in an activity, and to make new friends in a welcoming and understanding environment. If you have any questions, contact Terri Marciello or Laura Pickett at the Department of Elderly Services at 978-657-7595.
#2) State Senator Bruce Tarr Office Hours
A representative from State Senator Bruce Tarr’s Office will be at the Wilmington Senior Center (15 School Street) from 11am to noon to answer any questions or concerns you may have. No appointment is necessary, just stop by for a quick visit.
#3) Car Seat Installs At Public Safety Building
The Wilmington Police Department offers safety seat installs at the Wilmington Public Safety Building (1 Adelaide Street) every Wednesday, 10am-2pm. No appointment is necessary, but calling ahead at 978-658-5071 is recommended. Learn more HERE.
#4) Tech Help At Library
The Wilmington Memorial Library (175 Middlesex Avenue) is holding its weekly tech help drop-in hours from 2pm to 3pm. Have a tech question that’s been bugging you? Drop in the library to see if Technology Librarian, Brad McKenna, can help.
#5) Ballroom Dancing Lesson At Windsor Place
Windsor Place of Wilmington (92 West Street) is opening its door for public dance program at 2:45pm in its Activity Room. Michael Winward, an independent dance artist, will be coming by for another afternoon of ballroom dancing. With influences in American-style ballroom, ballet and contemporary dance practices, his work places a strong focus on building connections. Connection to one’s body, one’s self, one’s audience; connection between dance partners, connection within and across communities. In 2016, Michael founded Steps in Time, a program that brings ballroom dance workshops to senior communities. Ballroom dancing provides incredible benefits to older adults. It encourages good posture and it provides low-impact, cardiovascular exercise. All are welcome, whether you’d like to participate or just spectate!
