POLICE LOG for January 28: SUV vs. Tree; Car Strikes Fence; Driver Cited In Crash

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Monday, January 28, 2019:

  • Police notified DPW of a water main break on Taplin Avenue. (5:13am)
  • A 2010 Black Ford Edge struck a tree on South Street. Street was closed. North Reading Transportation and Officer Moon notified school buses would need to be detoured. Operator transported by Fire Department. Vehicle towed. Water Department notified because fire hydrant was bumped into. (6:59am)
  • A 2-vehicle crash took place on Church Street. A citation was issued to operator of jeep for failure to use care  in stopping and license not in possession. One vehicle towed. (11:00am)
  • A Boutwell Street caller reported her fence is damaged and appears someone drove through it. Police responded and reported it appeared someone may have attempted to turn around in driveway and clipped a section of the fence, causing approximately $250 in damage. (1:17pm)
  • Police were standing by at Town Hall for Selectmen’s Meeting. (7:31pm)
  • A driver was cited for operating an unregistered motor vehicle. Vehicle was towed from Cumberland Farms Gas Station on Main Street. (10:11pm)
