VIDEO: Learn About Wilmington High’s Local Heroes Club

WILMINGTON, MA — WCTV’s Wildcat TV recently highlighted Wilmington High’s Local Heroes Club.

Club Advisor Dawn Martell discussed the club’s history and mission.

“The Club started in 2012 to make students aware of our veterans and all the sacrifices they have made,” said Martell.

She discussed several of the club’s initiatives, including the school’s Veterans’ Cabinet, where alumni who have served in the military are recognized. The club also writes ‘Dear Soldier’ Letters, hangs Gratitude Scrolls in the hallways, and collects items like toiletries and candy for care packages to the troops.

Several members also discussed their involvement with the club, including President Jessica D’Arco and Vice President Jarod Benoit.

The Club, which is always looking for new members, meets every Wednesday after school in Ms. Martell’s classroom.
