WILMINGTON, MA — Mary Virginia Gallagher, of Arlington, MA passed away peacefully on December 23 after a lengthy illness. Mary was born on May 19, 1950 in Boston, MA to the late Edward A. and Agnes B. (Cadigan) Gallagher of Wilmington, MA where Mary was raised. As a teenager she was a member of the Wilmington Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps. Mary worked at the Charles River Laboratories and proudly served as a nurses aid at Tewksbury State Hospital. Mary was known by all for her gentle heart, her quick smile and her remarkable blue eyes.
She is survived by her beloved siblings; Joseph P. Gallagher and his wife Melissa of Adamstown, MD, Lawrence D. Gallagher and his wife Gayle of Boxford, Bernadette Bennett of Wilmington, William P. Gallagher and his wife Laura of Leonardtown, MD, the late Edward F. Gallagher and his surviving wife Carol of Lemoore, CA. Mary was the loving aunt of many nieces and nephews, and the favorite aunt of Kathleen Bennett of Wilmington.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to gather for calling hours at the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 374 Main St., Wilmington, Saturday, December 29th, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave, Wilmington, at 12:30 p.m. Interment services will be private. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Mary’s memory to the Edinburg Center, 205 Burlington Rd., Bedford, MA 01730.
