OBITUARY: Ida M. (Cucolo) Gillotte, 99

WOBURN, MA — Ida M. (Cucolo) Gillotte, a longtime Woburn resident, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2018 at the age of 99.

The daughter of Italian immigrants, Alphonso and Elizabeth Cucolo, Ida grew up in Winchester and graduated cum laude from Winchester High School in 1937. She married the love of her life, Anthony Gillotte, in 1941 and had two sons, Robert and John. They moved to Woburn in 1965.

While living in Winchester Ida was very active in the Immaculate Conception Ladies Sodality. She worked as a hostess in the faculty dining room at Tufts University for many years before retiring in 1989. Ida loved to cook for her family and enjoyed hosting holidays at her home in Woburn. She also enjoyed traveling, sewing, knitting, playing cards with friends, and volunteering at the Jenks Center in Winchester.

Ida was a self-taught piano player who enjoyed playing for parties at the Jenks and at New Horizons at Choate in Woburn where she resided in her later years. She continued to play for residents at Woodbriar Health Center in Wilmington where she resided at the time of her passing.

She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Anthony Gillotte, and is survived by her sons Robert Gillotte and John Gillotte, and his wife Karen. She was the beloved grandmother of Sarah Gillotte, Brian Gillotte and his wife Jessica, and Kevin Gillotte and his partner Emily Bedard. She is survived by her sister Beverly Connolly and her husband William and predeceased by her sister Marie Pizzo and her husband Carmine. She also leaves behind her sisters’ sons, Paul Pizzo and David Connolly, and many other nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service was held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Wednesday, December 12th, at 11 a.m.. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to call at the Funeral Home from 9-10:45 a.m. prior to the Service. Interment in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ida’s memory, to the Winchester Senior Association (Jenks Center), 109 SkillingsRoad, Winchester, MA, 01890 or to the charity of one’s choice.
