WILMINGTON, MA — To assist employers and employees in maintaining a safe workplace, the Wilmington/Tewksbury Chamber of Commerce and the Wilmington Police Department have partnered to present “Substance Abuse in the Workplace” on Tuesday, October 2, 8:30am to 10am, at the Wilmington Public Safety Building (1 Adelaide Street).
Workplace substance abuse affects all businesses, regardless of size or industry. Of the 12.3 million American adults who are current illicit drug users, 9.4 million (77 percent) are employed.
The presentation will cover: Alcohol abuse, use of illicit drugs, misuse of prescription drugs, and how to identify the signs of an employee working while they are under the influence. The presentation will also address: Early intervention, Behavioral Impact, Physical Changes, The Importance of a Substance Abuse Policy, Documenting problems of potential substance abuse, and Preventative Measures.
