POLICE LOG for August 16: Camera Found In Tree Next To Daycare; Syringe On Sidewalk; Salem St. Road Work Pops Tires

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Thursday, August 16, 2018:

  • Police noticed a party sleeping on the sidewalk on Main Street near Rite Aid. Party checked OK and was sent on his way. (5:16am)
  • A caller reported a SUV parked was in a space in the MBTA parking lot in North Wilmington for weeks without moving. (6;21am)
  • A resident called to report she found a syringe on the sidewalk on Lowell Street, in front of the 99 Restaurant, while walking her dog. She disposed of the syringe in the trash barrel in front of the restaurant. Dispatch notified the restaurant manager to advise and use caution when emptying trash container. (6:44am)
  • A caller reported a truck pulled up with a bucket it, party got into bucket and did some work on the lines on Woburn Street. Caller inquired with Comcast, Verizon and RMLD who all stated they are not out doing work at this time. Caller found this suspicious and wanted the incident logged. (10:49am)
  • An employee of The Learning Experience reported a camera in a nearby tree. Police spoke with a traffic consultant company regarding the proposed car wash, which reported they placed five cameras in the area. There was a lack of communication between the property owner and business. (4:53pm)
  • Three cars had its tires popped while driving over a manhole cover in the roadway on Salem Street during its paving project. Police to contact Water Department to see if manhole bumper covers are available. (6:08pm)
