WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Rotary Club held its fourth annual Community Ice Bucket Challenge on Saturday, August 18 at Rotary Park.
More than 200 residents attended and dumped buckets of ice cold water over their heads in support of ALS research. All proceeds from the popular fundraiser were donated to the Angel Fund, which is conducting research to find a cure for this terrible disease.
“The Wilmington Rotary Club would like to thank everyone who came to our Community Ice Bucket Challenge this past Saturday,” said event organizer and Rotarian Mike Burns. “We thank all who took the challenge. Special thanks to Jim Buckley; Rob Hayes of Wilmington Apple; WHS Athletic Director Tim Alberts; Tom Pazyra and Shaun Neville of WCTV; the Aleppo Shrine; and the Wilmington Town Crier.”
“I also want to thank all the participating Wilmington High Athletics teams and candidates for State Representative, including Pina Prinzivalli, Erika Johnson, Mark Kratman, Judy O’Connell and David Robertson,” added Burns. “And thank you and congratulations to Angela Caira, winner of the Red Sox/Cleveland Indians package auction.”
