WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a list of FREE upcoming programs for adults, teens and kids at the Wilmington Memorial Library.

Registration begins 30 days prior to the event. Adult Events

Book Launch Event: The Writers Next Door *RR
Monday, August 20, 2018, 7 pm
Help us celebrate the publication of the Library’s adult writing groups’ anthology, The Writers Next Door. Local authors contributed fiction and non-fiction stories, as well as poems. Their writings cover diverse topics like the Vietnam War, mothers and motherhood, romance, the supernatural, time travel, divorce, the beauty of nature, and cultural changes. In a panel discussion, the anthology’s writers will discuss how the book came to be and their contributions to it. A book signing will take place after the presentation–net proceeds of all book sales will be donated to the Friends. Refreshments served.

Featured Book: Chappaquiddick Tragedy: Kennedy’s Second Passenger Revealed
Join Library Director Tina Stewart for a discussion of this book and the author’s fascinating theory of the Chappaquiddick incident. Come and hear the author talk about his book on August 27.

William Martin – Author Talk*RR
Thursday, August 23, 7 pm
William Martin is the award-winning New York Times bestselling author of eleven novels, a PBS documentary, book reviews, magazine articles, and a cult-classic horror movie, too. His first Peter Fallon novel, Back Bay, established him as “a master storyteller.” He has been following the lives of the great and an anonymous in American history ever since and has taken readers from the Pilgrims to 9/11. His most recent book Bound for Gold is the 6th in the Peter Fallon series.

In this workshop, we will watch a 38 minute video on job search strategies offered through Lynda.com. Lynda.com is a wonderful online resource offering video courses taught by industry experts in software, creative, and business skills as well as videos on job hunting.  Assistant Director Charlotte Wood will show you how to access Lynda.com and will spend time reviewing its help for job seekers.

Don Nelson – Author Talk *RR
Thursday, August 30, 7 pm
In mid-morning of July 19, 1969, Senator Ted Kennedy reported an accident he had had the previous night in which Mary Jo Kopechne had drowned. No one believed the story he wrote in his police report. What was he covering up? What really happened? Don Nelson’s account pulls back the cloak of the cover-up in his recently published book Chappaquiddick Tragedy: Kennedy’s Second Passenger Revealed.

Family Escape the Room: Library Edition *RR
Friday, August 17, 2pm, 3pm, 4 pm
Competing with a team of up to 8 people, families must stretch their problem solving skills and escape the room together before the buzzer sounds!

Fall Storytime Registration Underway
Storytimes help build a foundation for a lifelong love of books and reading. Kids will enjoy age-appropriate books, songs, rhymes, movement activities and more. Session 1 runs from Week of September 3 through the Week of October 8. Register online at www.wilmlibrary.org or call the Youth Services Department at 978-694-2098.
