POLICE LOG for August 5: Wilmington Woman Arrested; Theft From Market Basket; Baby Squirrels Hurt; Stolen Car

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Sunday, August 5, 2018:

  • Alexa F. Marquard (22, Wilmington) was arrested on a warrant for a probation violation. (12:50am)
  • A caller reported a white male, approximately 30 years old, was under the footbridge on Burlington Avenue holding a needle. Dispatch contacted the male’s mother, who will attempt to find someone to pick him up at station. Police gave male a ride to the station. Male was unable to find a ride from a relative and opted to take the bus back to Lowell. (9:43am)
  • Train gets were down for an extended period of time at Main Street and Middlesex Avenue. Traffic is backing up. Police contacted Amtrac, who responded train would be moving in a minute. (10:15am)
  • An employee of a dentist office on Main Street reported a raccoon trapped in a dumpster. (11:09am)
  • An inbound train was blocking Route 62 at North Wilmington station for several minutes. (1:57pm)
  • A tree fell down in the roadway at Lowell Street and Commonwealth Avenue. Baby squirrels fell out of the tree. Animal Control Officer contacted wildlife rehabilitators. Road temporarily closed. (3:58pm)
  • An anonymous party reported a suspicious vehicle in the Fletcher Lane area. Vehicle came back stolen. Police towed vehicle. Police contacted Lowell Police to notify owner. (5:51pm)
  • RMLD and Fire Department responded to a transformer fire on State Street. Police temporarily closed portion of street. (6:10pm)
  • A manager from Market Basket reported a larceny. A woman allegedly put a sandwich, drinks and possibly other items in her purse and left without paying. Store will trespass woman. (7:17pm)
