POLICE LOG for July 31: Shawsheen Playground Equipment About To Collapse; 3.5-Foot Lizard Missing; Cemetery Theft; Needle Found

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Tuesday, July 31, 2018:

  • Police noticed a juvenile riding his bike on Glen Road. Police followed the juvenile home to speak with his parents. (2:00am)
  • Security at Winchester Family Medical Center on Salem Street reports a male at the facility is claiming to be from IT/Security. Caller reports all staff is accounted for and male is unknown to him. Police responded. The male party was a security system contractor and not wearing a uniform. Police confirmed it was a misunderstanding. (7:00am)
  • A Cleveland Avenue caller 911 to report she saw a coyote walk through her yard. Police advised her not to leave her dogs outside alone. (9:59am)
  • A party reported items were taken from a grave at Wildwood Cemetery. (10:29am)
  • An officer was flagged down by a resident on Lloyd Road to retrieve a needle found in the area. Police returned to the station with needle for destruction. (5:32pm)
  • Police observed a large group of people outside a vacant restaurant on Main Street. Group was playing Pokemon Go. (5:38pm)
  • A caller reported a bridge on the Shawsheen Elementary School’s playground was about to collapse. Police notified DPW. DPW removed bridge. Police put caution take around the area. DPW needs to order new parts in order to replace bridge. (6:50pm)
  • A Lucci’s employee requested an officer after they apprehended a shoplifter and is wishing to no-trespass them. Party stated it was a misunderstanding and already reimbursed Lucci’s. Party was handed a no-tresspass order per Lucci’s request. (7:41pm)
  • A resident reported an unknown male party pulled up to the edge of his property on Harold Avenue, dropped two bags on his property, and then left when confronted. Police responded. The two bags contained unopened alcohol. Police was unable to locate party in question. Alcohol was confiscated and disposed of. (8:30pm)
  • A caller reported her 3.5 foot black and white Tagu lizard escaped from its inclosure in her backyard. (8:56pm)
  • A passer-by cab driver reported a loose was horse on Chestnut Street. Dispatch notified owners, who were already in the process of catching the horse. (9:44pm)
