WILMINGTON, MA — Joe Martiniello, longtime Event Chair of Wilmington’s Relay For Life, was recently recognized by the New England Board of the American Cancer Society with one of its most honored awards — the Sandra C. Labaree Volunteer Values Award.
The prestigious award recognizes and honors an American Cancer Society volunteer whose actions in service to the fight against cancer best exemplifies the values of compassion, dedication, integrity, and courage.
The award was presented to the Martiniello during the Opening Ceremonies of last Friday’s Relay For Life event by Dennis Cataldo, Vice Chair of the New England Board of the American Cancer Society.
“For more than 10 years, Joe has been pat of the Relay for Life, raising funds and awareness to support the fight against cancer,” said Cataldo. “He’s served on Relay’s event leadership team and played a critical role in helping bring together the communities of Wilmington, Billerica and Tewksbury under one relay.”
“His deep passion and Relay expertise has been essential in helping the Wilmington Relay For Life reach a very impressive milestone — $1 million raised,” continued Cataldo. “The American Cancer Society is very lucky to have volunteers like Joe.”
