Wilmington Library Receives $5,500+ Grant From Wilmington Rotary Club To Purchase Literacy Technology

WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Memorial Library is pleased to announce the launch of literacy technology items purchased with a generous grant from Wilmington Rotary Club.

AWE Early Literacy Tablet
This tablet contains over 70 preschool literacy programs. It has all of the same content as the popular AWE Literacy workstation that the library has had in the children’s area for the past five years. The tablet can be checked out for 2 hours and is designed for caregivers and children to use together. Favorite programs include: Sesame Street Learn, Play and Grow, Diego’s Safari Rescue and Getting Ready for Kindergarten.

2 Amazon Fire: Kids Editions
The Kids Edition Fire features Amazon’s FreeTime Unlimited which gives access to 15,000 popular apps and games, videos, books, and educational content from PBS Kids, Nickelodeon, Disney, and more. The content is geared toward younger children, ages 3+. These tablets can be checked out and brought home or on vacation for one week.

2 Amazon Kindle Fire HD10s
These 2 tablets are preloaded with apps and books appropriate for children ages 8+. Kids can read popular series like Harry Potter, Dork Diaries, Percy Jackson, Land of Stories and more. Apps such as Minecraft Pocket, Temple Run 2, and Scribblenauts Remix are included on the device. These tablets can be checked out for one week.

Early Literacy Funpack
The Early Literacy Funpack includes books, puzzles, activities and a Starling early education wearable. The Starling tracks your child’s day and provides metrics on verbal engagement, motion, noise and even sunlight exposure. Try out the app for daily, actionable prompts to boost your child’s development. Check out the Funpack for one week.

E-Readers for Middle and High School Students
Included on these e-readers are digital formats of all Wilmington Public School summer reading assignments. Other popular teen titles are also on these e-readers, which circulate for 3 weeks.
