POLICE LOG for June 1: Power Line Fire Causes Power Outage; Bad Crash On Main St.; Dog Mistaken For Coyote; More Turtle Troubles

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Friday, June 1, 2018:

  • Police assisted a turtle crossing the road on Main Street, near U-Haul. (5:29am)
  • Police received a report of a turtle in the road on Lake Street. A resident moved the turtle out of the road prior to police arrival. (8:16am)
  • Police received report of a coyote on the fields behind the North Intermediate School. Animal Control Officer responded. No coyote present. Officer spoke with area resident about letting his dog run loose on the field. (8:23am)
  • Animal Control Officer relocated a snapping turtle in the roadway on Lawrence Street. (9:12am)
  • A passerby reported a woman had her dog running freely on the turf field at Yentile Farm. By the time the Animal Control Officer arrived, the female and her dog were gone. However, officer spoke with another individual walking their dog and advised them on the park’s no-dog policy. (10:50am)
  • A 2-vehicle crash took place on Main Street. Both operators transported to Lahey Clinic. Vehicles towed. Main Street was shut down from Woburn line to Eames Street. Mass Highway contacted to send sweeper to clean up debris. (3:41pm)
  • Fire Department and RMLD responded to power line on fire on Andover Street. RMLD cut power to area. Road closed to Treasure Hill Road. (6:59pm)
