WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington High School Varsity Softball team (12-7) defeated Wakefield by a score of 12-0 on Memorial Day in a shortened game.
Wilmington banged out four home runs, 2 triples, 1 double and 7 singles on their way to a dominating win.
After one inning, the Wildcats led 3-0. Dana Goulet (3-4, 4 RBI) led off with a homerun. Three batters later, Ally Moran (3-4. 5 RBI) had a two run homerun, plating Antonia Kieran who had reached on an error.
In the second, the Wildcats scored three runs again via singles by Goulet and Kieran and a double by Moran.
In the fourth, the Wildcats scored twice when Ryan Bailey had an RBI triple with Emily Wright scoring. Ally Moran came out and got her third consecutive hit – an RBI single.
In he fifth, Aliyah Tang used her speed and had an infield hit. Dana Goulet followed with her second homerun of the day – a two-run blast.
In the sixth, the Wildcats scored two more runs to end the game by the slaughter rule. Antonia Kieran led off with a triple and Liz Gordon had her own two-run shot to complete the scoring for the game.
Ally Moran continues her outstanding pitching allowing only one hit while striking out 6.
