LIBRARY LINEUP: Town-Wide Yard Sale On June 9

WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a list of FREE upcoming programs for adults, teens and kids at the Wilmington Memorial Library.

Registration begins 30 days prior to the event. Please register online using our Calendar of Events at www.wilmlibrary.org or by calling (978) 694-2099 (for Adult) or (978) 694-2098 (for Children/Teen). Please note we request registration for programs that are marked *RR. Thank you to the Friends of the Library for funding support for library programs!

Adult Events

Barstool Sports – Jerry Thornton *RR
Monday, June 4, 2:30 pm

Jerry Thornton, author of From Darkness to Dynasty:the first 40 years of the New England Patriots,shares stories from the team’s beginnings to that fateful 2001 Super Bowl winning season. Jerry Thornton writes daily for Barstool Sports, co-hosts their NFL podcast Laces Out, and is a stand-up comic.  This program is sponsored in part by a grant from the Wilmington Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Scanned Document Images *RR
Tuesday, June 5, 10 am (class limit 10)

Many genealogists, work with scanned or photographed documents, such as ship manifests, birth records, declarations of intention, etc., which are often surrounded by black borders and other unwanted items, such as the edges of pages. Additionally, these documents may be tilted or require changes in brightness and contrast to read text. Fortunately, these defects can be removed and/or fixed using free image processing software.  Learn how from Wilmington resident Bernie Lyons.

Cookin’ the Books *RR

Featured Cookbook: Bringing it Homeby Gail Simmons
If you love to cook and enjoy talking about food and sharing recipes then this group is for you.  Pick up a copy of the cookbook (or find a recipe from the book online); register and record your recipe selection on the events calendar at wilmlibrary.org. Bring your dish to the meeting and enjoy sampling everyone’s dishes!

Wednesday, June 6, 7 pm

Are you uncomfortable putting personal information online because you doubt it will be safe? Technology Librarian, Brad McKenna, will provide helpful tips on how to tell if your information is safe on any given webpage.

Medicare 101 *RR
Thursday, June 7, 7 pm
Gerald Lodge, Field Sales Representative for Tufts Health Plan Medicare Preferred, will provide an overview of Medicare.  He will talk about what to do, when to do it, and cost options.

Shop at the Town Wide Yard Sale
Saturday, June 9, 8 am- 2 pm
Looking for some bargains??!  Don’t miss out on the Annual Town Wide Yard Sale on Saturday, June 9 from 8 am to 2 pm. Maps of yard sale locations will be available at the library and at Market Basket starting Wednesday, June 6. The yard sale map will also be available at www.wimlibrary.org.
