WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a round-up of what’s going on in Wilmington on Saturday, May 5, 2018:

Happening Today:

Weather: Sunny, with a high near 74. West wind 9 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.

PLEASE VOTE: The Wilmington Annual Town Meeting and Special Town Meeting will begin at 10:30am in the WHS Auditorium. Read the warrants HERE and HERE.

At Wilmington Public Schools: Wilmington Public Schools will hold its 6th Annual Art Show on Friday, May 4, 2018, from 6pm to 8pm, and Saturday, May 5, 2018, from 10am to 2pm, in the Wilmington Middle School Cafeteria. Selected artwork from all grade levels and all eight schools will be on display. Students, families, and the general public are invited to this popular event. Light refreshments will be served. Admission is free.

In The Community: K1 Speed (40 Fordham Road) is hosting a Car Show from 11am to 5pm. Admission is free. The Massachusetts Illet Car Show, organized 742 Marketing, will feature all sorts of vehicles, go karting, vendors, food trucks, music by DJ Baby Boricua, and more. According to the event announcement, you’ll see: “Cars of all makes, lower and lifted trucks, street and custom bikes, dunked and dub’d SUV’s, out of this world big rigs, VIP and old school vans, rat rods and hot rods, lowriders and classic rides…it’s a lifestyle event not to miss!” To learn more, join the Facebook event HERE.

In The Community: The Friends of the Wilmington Memorial Library’s Book Store Next Door (183 Middlesex Avenue) is open from 10am to 4pm. All books are $2 or less!  Every penny of every sale benefits the Wilmington Memorial Library.

In The Community: The Wilmington Food Pantry (142 Chestnut Street) is open from 10am to noon for food donation drop-offs. Learn which food items the Pantry is most in need of HERE.

At The Library: Fiction Critique Group at 9:15am. Drop-In Baby Times at 9:30am. Dads & Donuts at 10:30am. Pokemon Club at 3pm. [Learn more and register HERE.]

Leaves/Brush Drop Off: The Wilmington Yardwaste Center on Old Main Street will be open today from 9am to 4pm for the drop-off of leaves and brush. Residents will need to purchase a punch-card for $15 in order to enter the yardwaste center. Punch-cards will be available for purchase through the Collector’s Office at Town Hall and will allow up to 5 vehicle trips to the yardwaste center per card. NO GRASS CLIPPINGS OR STUMPS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Commercial vehicles will not be allowed. Make sure to bring photo identification to show you are a Wilmington resident.

Live Music: Windsor Place of Wilmington (92 West Street) is holding a concert with Lori & Richard Ruggerio (Husband & Wife Vocalist Duo) at 2:30pm. Free and Open To All.
