WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington community is invited to fill the stands of Wilmington High School Athletic Complex on Wednesday, May 2nd from 9am-1pm (rain date is May 3rd) for Wilmington’s 2nd Annual Unified School Day Games. This joyful event will feature 100 students each from the Wilmington and Burlington school districts in a Unified Sports event – which allows for both students with and without intellectual disabilities to participate side by side in a truly inclusive setting.
Featuring all the elements of a traditional School Day Games, the Games will begin at 9am with the Law Enforcement Torch Run where local law enforcement officers will escort the Flame of Hope, carried by one of our special olympic athletes, onto the field to kick off the opening ceremony.
Each student athlete will participate in two or more sport skills stations or track and field events lead by student leaders and volunteers from Wilmington High School. All athletes will be awarded for their accomplishments. It is sure to be one of the most memorable and joyful community events of the year!
Thank you to the many sponsors and donors that have made this event possible.
For those interested, there is still time to be a sponsor. A program will be created to showcase the donors who keep the event free for the athletes. You can gain visibility at the following rates:
