POLICE LOG for March 8: Countless Calls About Fallen Trees, Branches & Wires; Train Derailment; Irate Shopper at CVS

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Thursday, March 8, 2018:

  • Throughout the 24 hours, police received approximately 200+ calls regarding downed trees, branches and wires. [Read the entire log HERE.]
  • Police received a report of a tree fallen into wires on Kirk Street. Tree is in yard while wires are in street and across a parked vehicle. (12:10am)
  • A Beeching Avenue resident reported a tree and wires down. She stated she has a strange smell in her home after losing power and is unsure if her CO detectors are working. (12:42am)
  • Police received a report of wires in the road and telephone pole bent in half on Roosevelt Road. (4:08am)
  • Fire Department and RMLD responded to the odor of smoke and sparks from a ground well on Duton Road. (5:12am)
  • RMLD and Fire Department responded to wires on fire on Jacquith Road and Swain Road. (6:03am, 6:06am)
  • A train derailment occurred near the MBTA Parking Lot on Main Street. MBTA on scene to handle. No injuries noted. Passengers moved to alternate transportation. (6:35am)
  • A tree fell onto a roof on Oak Street. No structural damage. (6:49am)
  • Plow truck struck  a vehicle on Main Street near Market Basket. Airbags deployed. Fire Department received refusals from both drivers. (6:54am)
  • Elderly man stated a tree is leaning against his house and asked for advice. (7:07am)
  • A tree fell on the train tracks off of Glen Road. Police notified Keolis. (7:45am)
  • Fire Department responded to a tree fallen onto a house on Mill Road. (9:53am)
  • Fire Department and State Police responded to a vehicle off road and into the median on 93 North. (12:07pm)
  • A caller reported a group of juveniles threw snowballs at his windshield at Shawsheen Avenue and Aldrich Road. Caller concerned they are creating a safety hazard for passings vehicles. Police were unable to locate. (2:49pm)
  • Police received report of individuals in a gray Volkswagen smoking marijuana in the Speedway parking lot. Police were unable to locate. (5:08pm)
  • A CVS Pharmacy employee reported an angry customer made threats and grabbed his wrist. Man left store. Man was trespassed and police will serve as man’s residence. (5:21pm)
