The Wilmington Insider For November 25, 2017

WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a round-up of what’s going on in Wilmington on Saturday, November 25, 2017:

Happening Today:

Weather: Increasing clouds, with a high near 55. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph.

Traffic Advisory: Butters Row Bridge will be closed through at least December 8. The MassDOT are repairing damaged bridge timber deck planks and timber stringers. Work will take place daily from 7am to 7pm. Detour routes are posted HERE.

Yardwaste: The Town’s Recycling Center (Old Main Street) is open from 9am to 4pm for leaf and brush drop-off.  [Read more HERE.]

In The Community: Richard Arfwedson, a Wilmington native, is fighting for his life and in need of a double lung transplant. His family has organized a fundraiser for the National Foundation for Transplants in his honor from 7pm to 11pm at the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks (777 South Street, Tewksbury). The evening will include gift basket raffles, 50/50 raffles, light refreshments, and music. Tickets cost $20 and can be purchased at the door. Can’t make the event but want to donate to Richard’s medical fund? In The Community: The 23rd Annual Castleberry Faire Holiday Craft Festival will take place on Friday, November 24 (9am-5pm); Saturday, November 25 (10am-5pm) and Sunday, November 26 (10am-4pm) at the Shriners Auditorium (99 Fordham Road). This three-day shopping bonanza includes over 250 of the nation’s finest craftspeople, displaying and selling American made works. Admission costs $8 per person. In The Community: Ristuccia Memorial Arena (190 Main Street) is holding a public skating session from 1pm to 3pm. Admission (all ages) costs $5 per person. No rental skates will be available. Have a question? Contact the rink at 978-657-4605.

In The Community: Wilmington High Class of 2007 will be holding its 10-Year Reunion from 7:30pm to 10:30pm at Waxy O’Connor’s in Lexington (94 Hartwell Avenue). Day-of tickets cost $40. For additional information, visit the reunion’s Facebook event HERE.

In The Community: 6th, 7th and 8th grade students living in Wilmington are invited to join the Wilmington Youth Center and enjoy being part of a community that offers a safe place to hang out with your friends and have fun! The Wilmington Youth Center, located inside Villanova Hall (126 Middlesex Avenue), will be open every Saturday night, from 7pm to 9:30pm, from November 25, 2017 to March 17, 2018. Registration costs $40 per child or $80 per family.  Registrations will be accepted on Saturday nights during the season. In The Community: The Friends of the Wilmington Memorial Library’s Book Store Next Door (183 Middlesex Avenue) is open from 10am to 4pm. All books are $2 or less!  Every penny of every sale benefits the Wilmington Memorial Library. Learn more HERE.
