WILMINGTON, MA — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced this week that the closure of Butters Row Bridge will be extended, at minimum, to Friday, December 8, in order to procure and install new timber members after the discovery of unanticipated deterioration.
The Bridge was originally scheduled to reopen on Friday, November 10.
The daily work hours will continue to be 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Affected traffic will be detoured as follows:
- Traffic on the east side of the bridge destined to areas on the west side of the bridge will be directed to follow Route 38 North; turn left onto Route 62 West; and turn left onto Chestnut Street South.
- Traffic on the west side of the bridge destined to areas on the east side of the bridge will be directed to follow Chestnut Street North; turn right onto Route 62 East; and turn right onto Route 38 South.
MassDOT encourages drivers to seek alternate routes, if possible, to avoid delays. Drivers who must travel through the affected area should expect delays, reduce speed and use caution while traveling through the work zone and along detour routes.
(NOTE: The above announcement is from the Town of Wilmington/MassDOT.)
