Adult Programs

How to Develop a Productive Professional Network *RR
Monday, November 13, 10am
Wilmington resident Barbara Alevras, PMP, founder and owner of Sage Consulting Services, will talk about the importance of developing and nurturing professional relationships.  The key steps of: establishing realistic networking goals; developing an effective networking plan; and implementing a pragmatic contact management strategy, will be discussed. You leave the highly interactive session with easy-to-apply information and ideas you can put into action immediately.

How-to Make Soap *RR
Tuesday, November 14, 7pm
Learn to make unique specialty soaps with Jennifer Hofmann! Participants will receive an instruction booklet to follow up the class with some home soap making of their own. You will see soap made during the presentation as well as learn the history and chemistry of soap making, the basic supplies and equipment needed, the safety considerations, how to color and scent soap, how to prepare molds, and how to insulate, cut, cure, and store soap.  All attendees will receive a soap sample!

Kids and Teen Events

Mad Science Presents: Movie Effects *RR
Monday, November 13, 6:30pm
This workshop gives children a chance to sit in the director’s chair and discover why science is the real star on the big screen. Exciting demonstrations and hands-on activities allow children to discover the science behind the amazing sound and weather effects from their favorite movies. Children investigate 3-D technology and experience how this effect can make them feel like part of the action. Motion pictures come alive with a spinning praxinoscope. Grades 1-5

Art Adventures: Winter Mural *RR
Tuesday, November 14, 3:45pm 
We’ll work together to create a winter themed mural inspired by Wilmington! The mural will include a beautiful sunset, skaters on Silver Lake, and town landmarks. The finished mural will hang on display in the library all winter long!  Grades 1-5

Star Mag
Wednesday, November 15, 3:45pm
Drop in to help create this magazine written by, for and about kids, and published by the library.  Bring in finished, original artwork, puzzles, poems, comics, jokes, or create it while you are here. Grades 3-6

Mother Daughter Book Group: The Hundred Dresses *RR

Girls and the special women in their lives are invited to join us for a discussion of The Hundred Dresses by Eleanor Estes. Pick up a copy of the book at the Children’s Desk. We’ll discuss the book and make a fun craft. Optional: Come dressed in your favorite dress! Grades 1-5
