POLICE LOG for October 30: Storm SLAMS Wilmington; Police, Fire & DPW Respond To Constant Calls

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Monday, October 30, 2017:

  • Police received report of a tree onto a house on Shady Lane Drive. (12:26am)
  • Police received report of a tree onto a house on Birchwood Road. (12:34am)
  • Police received report of a tree down across the roadway on Andover Street. Service wires were ripped out. (12:48am)
  • Police received report of a large pine tree down blocking the roadway on Everett Avenue. (1:06am)
  • A female juvenile ran away from the Milestone Group Home on High Street. (1:11am)
  • A resident reported a catch basin on Chandler Road was flooded, causing the road to flood. (1:18am)
  • Police assisted Fire Department with trees onto cars and house on Lake Street. (1:34am)
  • Police assisted Fire Department with trees down and wires arcing on Butters Row. (1:42am)
  • Main Street (Route 38) roadway is flooding in multiple areas.  Police notified MassDOT to clear storm drain covers. (1:46am)
  • Tree into house on Fairfield Road. Service wires ripped out. RMLD notified.
  • A Clorinda Road caller reported a tree down in his driveway caused damage to vehicle. (3:15am)
  • Police assisted Fire Department with tree onto house on Burt Road. (3:46am)
  • Police notified DPW of a tree down on Mather Street, blocking the road. (3:48am)
  • Caller reported a tree was down across the roadway on Eames Street. (4:10am)
  • Lowell Street behind 99 Restaurant and Michael’s Place is flooded. Police notified DPW. (4:33am)
  • A Salem Street resident reported the sewer in front of her house is flooded. DPW notified. (5:13am)
  • Police notified DPW and RMLD of downed tree blocking road on Washington Avenue. (6:01am)
  • Police notified DPW and RMLD of downed tree on Marion Street. (6:07pm)
  • Tree uprooted and leaning against power lines over Middlesex Avenue. (6:52am)
  • Trees and large branches reported down on Marcus Road, Federal Street, Houghton Road, Lopez Road, Magazine Street, Clifton Street, Grant Street, and A LOT more. There’s at least another 30 storm-related calls in the log.
  • Police notified RMLD and Verizon and telephone pole was swaying back and forth on Fordham Road. (11:54am)
  • A caller reported the lug nuts on all her tires were loosened overnight. It appears the vehicle was entered, but nothing was taken. A lug nut wrench was found on ground next to vehicle. (1:35pm)
  • Caller reported one of the support poles for the netting behind the goal posts at Yentile Farm has snapped. Police notified DPW. (1:59pm)
  • Police issued 6 parking citations in the MBTA parking lot on Main Street. (3:25pm)
  • A caller reported 3 juvenile males on bikes are smashing old drive-thru signs at Sonic on Main Street.  Police were unable to locate. (5:40pm)
  • A caller reported a man was flying a drone of the Yentile soccer field. Police spoke with man, who was taping the soccer practice. He was advised to refrain in the future. (6:20pm)
