POLICE LOG for October 24: Gas Station Assault; Gas Smell At School; Attempted Break-In At Medical Facility

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are TEN highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Tuesday, October 24, 2017:

  • A CVS employee reported “suspicious purchase of gift cards.” (5:07am)
  • Police checked on vehicles in driveways on Christine Drive, Hathaway Road, and Roberts Road due to recent vehicle break-ins. (5:54am)
  • Police investigated a disturbance at Dunkin Donuts on Lowell Street. A man had a flat tire on his bike and was asking customers in the drive-thru for a ride. Man also apparently tried to gain access to certain vehicles. Police sent him on his way to walk his bicycle back home to Reading. (9:39am)
  • Fire Department responded when teachers reported smelling a gasoline odor at the Shawsheen Elementary School. (12:34pm)
  • Police issued 8 parking citations in the MBTA parking lot on Main Street. (12:44pm)
  • A caller reported a man putting things in people’s mailboxes on Carter Lane. Man was soliciting for Xfinity Home and had the proper permit. (12:55pm)
  • A Senior Center employee called to state that a resident claims there is a tent in the woods behind her home. Caller reported someone came to her door around 11pm last night. Police responded to resident’s home and did note the tent, which was unoccupied at the time. (3:09pm)
  • A Shell Gas Station employee reported being assaulted. Police responded and determined it was a simple assault. Victim was unsure if he wanted to press charges. (3:14pm)
  • A caller reported an attempted break into an office at Winchester Family Medical Center on Salem Street.  Break was unsuccessful and happened between Thursday and today. (3:50pm)
  • Police closed down a portion of Shady Lane Drive so the Fire Department and town could remove tree that was leaning on wires. RMLD shut down power in the area. (4:25pm)
