The Wilmington Insider For October 21, 2017

WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a round-up of what’s going on in Wilmington on Saturday, October 21, 2017:

In The News:

Selectmen Divided: Should the town sell town-owned land to private developers to create affordable housing?  As Kori Tuitt points out in the Lowell Sun yesterday, Selectmen Mike McCoy and Kevin Caira supported a motion to exclude the sale of any town-owned land at 2018 Annual Town Meeting.  Their colleagues — Selectmen Mike Champoux, Greg Bendel, and Ed Loud — were in opposition.  Those Selectmen want to hear from residents before making their decisions.  And residents WILL have a chance to be heard during a special public input session at the Board of Selectmen Meeting on Monday, November 13.

Weather Station at Shawsheen Elementary: Wilmington Patch reported on a recent blog post from Principal Lisa King announcing that 3rd grade teacher Patrick McInerney has installed a weather station on the school’s roof.  Parents can now get real-time weather reports, including “real-feel” temperatures for recess.
