WOBURN, MA — The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office announced on Tuesday that Joseph Boidi, 29, of Wilmington, was recently indicted by a grand jury on the following charges:
- Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
- Attempted Assault & Battery with a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm without a License
- Possession of a Loaded Firearm
- Witness Intimidation
The charges stem from an arrest on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at the Motel 6 in Tewksbury.
According to Tewksbury Police, on Monday, June 5, 2017, around 11:05pm, officers responded to reports of a shot fired at Motel 6. When police arrived on the scene, they located a shell casing and began to review surveillance footage.
Boidi was seen on video arguing with a man, during which he allegedly drew a firearm and fired a shot. No one was injured. Boidi was later located standing outside of a motel room. He was placed into custody. A search of his vehicle turned up a .22 caliber pistol.
Also arrested on the scene was Leah Donovan, 30, of Dracut, for assault and battery on a police officer, misleading a police officer, resisting arrest, and 2 warrants for shoplifting and larceny. When police came across Donovan, she gave them a false name, resisted arrest, and kicked a detective, according to police.
Donovan was also seen on the video with Boidi arguing with a man. According to police, Boidi had a prior relationship with the victim.
The Assistant District Attorney assigned to the case is Daniel Harren.
