The Wilmington Insider For October 7, 2017

WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a round-up of what’s going on in Wilmington on Saturday, October 7, 2017:

In The News:

  • A bad rollover crash on 93 South in Wilmington on Thursday sent a woman to the hospital, according to the Lowell Sun. Wilmington Police assisted State Police at the scene.
  • “The town is looking to create a dynamic, multi-year, long-range forecasting model to revenue and expenditures to illustrate to residents and local boards the impact of policy decisions in the long run,” Assistant Town Manager Dee Casey told the Lowell Sun.  That’s why the town recently signed two Community Compacts with the state in the areas of long-range financial planning and municipal financial management structure.  The town is now eligible to receive up to $30,000 in grant funding to help achieve best practices in these areas.

Happening Today:

  • Weather: Partly sunny, with a high near 77. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon.
  • Yardwaste: The Town’s Recycling Center (Old Main Street) is open from 9am to 4pm for leaf and brush drop-off.  [Read more HERE.]
  • In The Community: The Wilmington Health Department is hosting a Town Wide Flu Clinic for residents ages 5 & up on today from 1pm to 4pm at Wilmington Town Hall. Free of Charge. Remember to bring your insurance cards. Vaccine will be available even if you do not have insurance. Anyone allergic to eggs or egg products must not take this vaccine. Anyone with a fever should delay vaccination. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • In The Community (Part 2): The Friends of the Wilmington Memorial Library’s Book Store Next Door (183 Middlesex Avenue) is open from 10am to 4pm. All books are $2 or less!  Every penny of every sale benefits the Wilmington Memorial Library. Learn more HERE.
  • In The Community (Part 3):  The Wilmington Food Pantry (142 Chestnut Street) is open from 10am to noon for food donation drop-offs. Learn which food items the Pantry is most in need of HERE.

  • At The ShrinersThe North of Boston Boat Sale & Expo is in town today (10am-5pm) and tomorrow (10am-4pm).
  • Reunion News: The Shawsheen Tech Class of 1982 is holding its 35-year reunion at the Tewksbury Knights of Columbus tonight.
