POLICE LOG for September 15: Wilmington Woman Arrested For OUI For 3rd Time; Erratic Driver; Pony Problems

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are EIGHT highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Friday, September 15, 2017:

• A red 2003 Toyota Corolla and black 2005 Lexus SE were involved in a crash on Lowell Street in front of Red Heat Tavern. No injuries noted. (7:08am)
• Billerica Animal Control Officer reported a pony at a Hopkins Street property appears to be having a difficult time standing and walking. Situation checked OK. Animal is being treated to chronic lameness. (11:05am)
• A St. Paul Street caller reported a chipmunk was caught in a mousetrap-like structure and still alive. Police located and released the animal. (11:07am)
• James M. Welch (24, Wilmington) was arrested for being a fugitive from justice on a court warrant. (11:21am)
• Police rescued a stray cat from underneath a porch on Roosevelt Road and transported to Lowell for medical treatment. (12:10pm)
• Police notified the Water Department of a fire hydrant on Beech Street leaking a large amount of water. (1:07pm)
• Off-duty Reading Police officer was behind an erratic operator. Operator was driving on wrong side of the road, nearly colliding with passing cars and oncoming traffic, nearly hitting telephone poles and pedestrians. Police stopped the vehicle at Cottage and Main Streets. Operator’s cousin took custody of him. Police will be seeking immediate threat status. A field sobriety test was performed. Written warning for parked lanes violation. No arrest noted.
• Kelly P. Murray (50, Wilmington) was arrested on OUI Liquor (3rd Offense), Operating a Motor Vehicle with Suspended License (Subsequent Offense), Operating Motor Vehicle with Revoked Registration, Possession of Open Container of Alcohol in Motor Vehicle; and License Number Plate Violation. (6:50pm)
