POLICE LOG for September 14: Skate Park Vandalized; Break-In At Vacant House; Cat Killed; Plant or Drugs?

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are SEVEN highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Thursday, September 14, 2017:

  • During a check of the skate park at the Shawsheen Elementary School, police noticed one of the ramps was spray painted. Police notified DPW. (5:05pm)
  • An employee at Kirkwood Printing requested an officer look at an oddly wrapped package containing some sort of leaves. Police determined the plant material was not drug related. Situation checked OK. (5:54pm)
  • A School Street resident requested extra traffic enforcement in the morning, reporting younger drivers are causing near-collisions on their way to the high school. (6:06pm)
  • A cat was struck and killed by a car on Park Street. A caller witnessed the incident. When the caller spoke with the driver and pointed her in the direction of the owner’s home, the driver instead kept driving. (6:26pm)
  • A Clark Street caller reported vacant house next door has a front door that’s been open all day. Police responded. Door had been kicked in. Police determined there was a break-in, possibly done by squatters. Police contacted realtor, who will secure the door tomorrow. (6:28pm)
  • A resident from Regency Place reported a vehicle was doing donuts in the area of the past hour. Police responded. Vehicle was gone, but observed the tire marks. (10:04pm)
  • A Speedway employee reported a vehicle operator smelled of alcohol. Police were unable to locate. Police notified Billerica Police. (10:10pm)
  • China Wok employee notified police they will have a worker on the roof until 2am with a flashlight working on the vents. (10:44pm)
