POLICE LOG for August 9: Home Broken Into & Jewelry Stolen; Hit & Run At Target

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are NINE highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Wednesday, August 9, 2017:

  • Police notified DPW that the convex mirror at Glen Road and Drury Lane has been turned and is not facing the proper direction to see oncoming traffic. (6:46am)
  • A caller reported a vehicle in the area was pulling in and out of driveways and keeping pace with her while she was walking down Aldrich Road. Police responded. Vehicle was driven by a newspaper delivery man. Caller was advised. (10:26am)
  • A town worker reported a 16-year-old male party ran out from a yard on Grove Avenue wearing all black. He covered his face when he ran past. Police were unable to locate the party.  There were no signs of housebreaks in the area. (10:39am)
  • Police assisted North Reading with the search for a missing alzheimer’s man. Man was eventually found at North Reading Town Hall. (11:37am)
  • A Jere Road homeowner reported their house was broken into sometime between 11:15am and 12:20pm.  A screen was cut and a jewelry box was taken off of the bureau and emptied onto the bed. (1:16pm)
  • A Modcash Cafe employee reported he was the victim of a scam claiming to be from National Grid. Caller paid the scammer $500 on Monday. (5:02pm)
  • A caller reported a hit and run in the Target parking lot.  Caller was able to secure security footage of the accident. Police identified owner of other vehicle and contacted Lawrence Police to go by owner’s home. (6:40pm)
  • An Emerson Street caller wants a family of bunnies living in his yard moved. His dog killed one of the bunnies earlier. (6:40pm)
  • A vehicle struck and killed a dog on Shawsheen Avenue. Dog’s owner was on scene and brought dog to vet to make arrangements. (9:24pm)
