POLICE LOG for August 11: Wilmington Man Arrested; Driver Involved In Highway Crashes Nabbed In Town

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are EIGHT highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Friday, August 11, 2017:

  • Police notified DPW that the Crescent Street sign and Doane Street sign on Broad Street are missing.  (1:14am)
  • A Lake Street caller reported her mailbox was struck sometime overnight. (6:08am)
  • Police removed a deceased goose from the Ballardvale Office Park. (8:23am)
  • Police notified DPW that the 25 MPH sign on West Street was struck by a vehicle and needs to be repaired. (8:54am)
  • State Police reported a white Saturn sedan was involved in several crashes on the highway. Party struck a tractor trailer unit and guardrail several times. Vehicle exited the highway at Route 62 in Wilmington and stopped at Rick’s Barber Shop. Police responded. Individual was not “fully alert.” Fire Department transported man. State Police will handle investigation. Police checked area for any property damage in town on Route 62. (12:56pm)
  • A caller reported a baby fox was in a driveway on Salem Street. (4:07pm)
  • A Sheridan Road caller reported a man on a bicycle were stopping in front of houses in the area for long prolonged periods of time. Caller felt it was suspicious. Police responded. Bicyclist had two active warrants. Christopher Peter Hope (30, Wilmington) was arrested on two outstanding warrants — possession of Class A narcotics and shoplifting. (6:22pm)
  • A caller reported a van parked in front of the St. Thomas entrance with two parties sitting on the front steps for the past 20 minutes. Police responded. The individuals were florists setting up for a wedding in the morning. (11:30pm)
