Wilmington POLICE LOG (July 9-July 15)

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for the week of Sunday, July 9, 2017.

Sunday, July 9:

  • A caller reported parties were urinating in the Target parking lot. Police responded and were unable to locate said parties. (11:22am)
  • A Lloyd Road resident reported their checkbook was missing from their house. (1:42pm)
  • Police notified DPW of an abandoned mattress on the side of the road on Industrial Way. (3:22pm)
  • Police notified RMLD of a blown transformer on Main Street. Several streets were without power. (3:49pm)

Monday, July 10:

  • Police sent three individuals playing basketball at Yentile Farm on their way. (12:55am)
  • A caller reported that he went to pick up a friend on Sandy Lane, he was jumped by a group of people. (3:19am)
  • Police issued a citation for an overweight vehicle on the Butters Row Bridge. (10:19am)
  • Police notified DPW of a dead goose in the roadway on Main Street. (11:22am)
  • Police gave a verbal speeding warning and advised a vehicle to turn due to weight restrictions on Butters Row. (1:10pm)
  • Police came across 2 juveniles riding on a quad, one without a help.  Police contacted a parent and quad was pushed back to residence. (1:20pm)
  • Dylan J. Champey (22, Wilmington) was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. (4:43pm)
  • Police notified DPW of large fallen tree blocking roadway on Houghton Road and Kendall Street. (4:51pm)
  • Police notified DPW that 25 MPH speed limit sign at Aldrich Road and Shawsheen Avenue is being obstructed by tall grass. (5:19pm)
  • A Woburn Street caller reported locating a needle near the mailbox.  Police retrieved for proper disposal. (6:27pm)

Tuesday, July 11:

  • Rachel M. McHugh (21, Wilmington) was issued a summons for operating an uninsured motor vehicle; operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration; and no or expired inspection sticker. (1:07am)
  • Police transported a male party who walking in the rain to Dunkin Donuts (321 Main Street). (3:45am)
  • An orange 2013 Mini Cooper was rear-ended by a white 2015 Chrysler Wrangler on Main Street. No injuries reported. (7:54am)
  • A North Reading Transportation school bus, with 2 children on board, were involved in an accident with a Toyota Corolla at the May Institute. No injuries reported. (8:39am)
  • Tewksbury reported a motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed, passing vehicles on Route 38, heading into Wilmington. State Police reported motorcyclist already fled two traffic stops and had no plates. Wilmington Police were unable to locate. (11:37am)
  • An Arnold Road caller reported she was contacted by Bank of America that a duplicate card was issued for her account and sent to a Florida address. (3:26pm)
  • A 3-vehicle crash with airbag employment occurred on Salem Street. No injuries reported. (3:34pm)
  • A Hillside Way caller reported his son was nearly run off the road by another juvenile he knows from school while riding his bike. Caller wanted the incident logged. (7:29pm)
  • A gray 2008 Nissan Sentra stroke a pole at Brattle Street and Glen Road. No injuries reported. Vehicle towed. RMLD notified. (11:07pm)

Wednesday, July 12:

  • State Police stopped a silver 2000 Chevy Blazer on 93 North, near Exit 40. Vehicle was stopped in connection with a robbery. (5:52am)
  • Satish Kumar Kothapally (23, Nashua, NH) was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and speeding. (6:18am)
  • Tewksbury Police was in pursuit of a black motorcycle at a high rate of speed. Motorcyclist entered Wilmington.  Wilmington Police located motorcycle in a Glen Road driveway, but was unable to locate operator.  Bike was towed. Family member of operator will have him come down to station later in the day. (6:56am)
  • Police notified DPW of potholes reforming on Hopkins Street. (8:45am)
  • Police installed 9 car seats during its weekly drop-in hours.
  • Police issued 2 parking citations in the MBTA parking lot on Main Street. (11:07am)
  • Police notified DPW of a boulder knocked into the roadway by a tractor trailer on Ballardvale Street. (4:12pm)

Thursday, July 13:

  • ICE notified Wilmington Police they were doing an investigation in the area, possibly involving a traffic stop on Butters Row. (6:14am)
  • A caller reported a bird was stuck in the batting cage network at the high school. Animal Control Officer responded, but bird was gone upon arrival. (7:48am)
  • A walk-in party reported a credit card fraud. (11:43am)
  • A caller reported three males in between the Planet Fitness parking lot and railroad tracks, possibly engaging in drug activity. Police responded, but men were already gone. (1:04pm)
  • A caller requested extra traffic enforcement at Salem Street and Ballardvale Street between 3:30pm and 5pm. (5:00pm)
  • A Dunkin Donuts employee requested an officer due to a male customer in the store for the past 2 hours asking to use the store’s phone and other people’s personal phones to make a call.  He stated he needs to make the call or he should be arrested. Police picked the man up and dropped him off. (5:52pm)
  • A caller reported a male party rang doorbell, proceeded to remove his pants, and run throughout the neighborhood. Police responded. Police located man climbing a tree. Man did not seem coherent. Fire Department transported the man. (6:05pm)
  • MBTA reported several individuals “playing chicken” with train on Main Street.  Police were unable to locate the individuals. (9:07pm)

Friday, July 14:

  • State Police responded to a black 2004 Jeep Wrangler rollover on 93 North Exit 40 on-ramp. (12:32am)
  • Police assisted with a motor vehicle lockout in the TJ Maxx parking lot. (11:33am)
  • Police conducted a check of the Yentile Farm Recreational Facility and had conversation with party regarding no smoking on town-owned property. (1:02pm)
  • Police received a call regarding a Verizon solicitor on Lawrence Street. Police located the solicitor and advised him to stop. (2:36pm)
  • A caller reported a past hit and run.  Caller was unsure if it happened in the Chili’s parking lot or in the As Good As It Gets parking lot. (5:08pm)
  • Police notified DPW that the MPH sign on Main Street, near Border Avenue, is completely obstructed. (6:49pm)
  • A Foxrun Drive resident reported a shovel went missing from his yard last week and a pair of glasses was found on an outside window sill.  Resident believed someone has been in his yard without his permission. Caller asked the incident be logged. (7:47pm)

Saturday, July 15:

  • Police came across a vehicle playing loud music on Kiernan Avenue. Vehicle will remain in area overnight and a sober drive will come by in the morning to pick up. Vehicle’s owner was taken to station to be picked up and driven home. (2:49am)
  • A caller reported their brother-in-law lost his cell phone and wallet when he drove away with them on his vehicle.  His drive began on Magazine Road. (12:00pm)
  • A caller reported a dog left in a vehicle in the Market Basket parking lot. Operator was back at vehicle before an officer was dispatched. (2:01pm)
  • Police were flagged down by 3 parties on Shawsheen Avenue claiming a female was riding a bicycle in traffic giving people the middle finger. Police spoke with the female and sent her on her way. (6:02pm)
  • A caller reported a past hit and run in the Red Heat Tavern parking lot. (7:34pm)
  • A caller reported two dogs in a locked vehicle in the Red Heat Tavern parking lot. Two windows cracked. Police responded. Dog checked OK. Vehicle seemed cool enough. Police will check on them later. (8:28pm)
  • A caller reported receiving annoying phone calls on his cell phone. The annoying calls would include swears, then a hang up. Police logged the incident. Caller will notify police if behavior continues. (11:52pm)
