TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Melrose Avenue Water Main Improvement Project To Begin July 26

WILMINGTON, MA — On Wednesday, July 26, 2017, the Wilmington Water Division will begin the installation of a new 8-inch cement lined ductile iron water main to replace the existing 2-inch main in Melrose Avenue.

During this project, area residents may temporarily experience discolored water and/or low water pressure. However, when completed, the new water main will improve both water quality and quantity. This upgrade will also include the installation of an additional fire hydrant in the area, increasing fire protection.

Work will begin at approximately 8:00 AM. The Town will try and limit disrupting egress as much as possible. Residents are asked to try and refrain from parking vehicles on the road during construction. Residents should feel free to talk to the directly with any special circumstances. Accommodations will try to be made.

The Town anticipates completing the main installation in approximately one week and will begin transferring individual water services to the new main approximately one week later. Area residents will be notified by Water Division personnel if water service will be temporarily interrupted. Although unlikely, please be aware that water service could be unexpectedly disrupted. The town suggests area residents keep a gallon of water in the refrigerator during this project in case problems were to occur.

If you have any questions or concerns, contact the Water Division office at 978-658-4711. The town thanks the area residents for their patience during the project.
