Adult Events

Tips for Resumes and Interviews *RR
Monday, July 24, 10 am
Artie Lynnworth, retired business executive and author of four books including Slice the Salam–Tips for Life and Leadership One Slice at a Time plus Tips for Résumés and Interviews, All in One Hour, will address how to ace an interview and create an effective resume. He will share a successful process for at-home preparation, including STAR communication techniques, with the goal of having you achieve the job you want.

Creative Writing Skill Building *RR
Tuesday, July 25, 7 pm
Learn and apply writing tips, tools, and techniques shared by published authors and other writing experts. Open to all who want to improve their writing skills and get their work published. When registering, please provide your email address so you can receive an agenda and any prep materials in advance. Led by local writing enthusiast, Barbara Alevras.

Author Talk: Sally Cabot Gunning *RR
Thursday, July 27, 7 pm
A lifelong resident of New England, Sally Cabot Gunning has immersed herself in its history from a young age. She is the author of the critically acclaimed Satucket Novels: The Widow’s War, Bound, and The Rebellion of Jane Clarke, and writing as Sally Cabot, Benjamin Franklin’s Bastard. She will also be discussing her latest novel, Monticello: A Daughter and Her Father.

Featured Cookbook: A Super Upsetting Cookbook About Sandwiches by Tyler Kord
If you love to cook and enjoy talking about food and sharing recipes then this group is for you. Pick up a copy of the cookbook (or find a recipe from the book online); email your recipe selection to leader Lisa Crispin (lcrispin@wilmlibrary.org). Bring your dish to the meeting and enjoy sampling everyone’s dishes!

The Smartphone Simplified (limit 12) *RR

Are you new to the world of smartphones? Do all the screens and icons leave you flummoxed? Join technology librarian Brad McKenna as he goes over the basics of getting your smartphone to work for you.

Civil Disobedience Discussion *RR
Thursday, August 3, 7 pm
In celebration of the Bicentennial of Henry David Thoreau’s birth, Tom Hersey, a Professor of English at UMass Lowell will lead a discussion of Thoreau’s essay Civil Disobedience, which has become a manual for social protest and has relevance today. Pick up a copy and join the discussion.

Feast on Rice Bowls *RR
Tuesday, July 25, 3 pm
Chef Liz Barbour from The Creative Feast is back to demonstrate two delectable grain bowl recipes! Learn to mix and match sauces and veggies to create versatile, healthy meals on the go. Sampling is encouraged! Grades 6-12

Wednesday, July 26, 6:30 pm
Bernadette Baird presents music and movement for toddlers and young children through age three. Sing, play musical instruments and dance. Ages 1-3

Baby Times
Thursday, July 27, 9:30 am
This program of songs, rhymes, games and picture books is for babies under the age of two years and their caregivers. Space is limited. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Time for Twos
Thursday, July 27, 10:30 am
This fun program features books, songs, rhymes, music and movement. Age: 2 and a caregiver. Space is limited. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Teddy Bear Picnic
Thursday, July 27, 11 am
Families are invited to bring a blanket and a picnic lunch to enjoy with their favorite stuffed animal. Performer Ed Morgan will entertain us with music and sing-along songs as we enjoy our picnic lunches on the Swain Green. Popsicle treats will be provided by the library. All ages

Stop Motion Animation *RR
Thursdays, July 27 and August 3, 2-4 pm
Create an animated mini-movie using clay, Legos, paper, and other materials in this two-part workshop. Kids will work in teams to create the story, film and edit their movie. Grades 4-8

Build a Better . . . Robot
Friday, July 28, 10-12 am
Drop in for a different building challenge each week. This week you can design and build a robot. Ages 3+

Last Day on Mars Book Discussion *RR
Friday, July 28, 2-3 pm
While waiting to leave Mars before it burns up just like the Earth before it, Liam and his friend Phoebe discover some facts about time and space and realize that the human race is just one of the races trying to survive in space. Pick up a copy of this book at the Youth Services desk, and then join us for a discussion, activity and snack. Grades 4-5
