10 Things You Need To Know In Wilmington Today (June 29, 2017)

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are TEN things you need to know in Wilmington for Thursday, June 29, 2017.

#1) According to the National Weather Service, Wilmington will see a slight chance of showers after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. Southwest wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

#2) The Wilmington Fun on the Fourth celebration begins TODAY! The schedule is below:

Dinner

  • 6:00 PM  – 8:00 PM  Rotary Club, $8 (BBQ – Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Baked Beans, Potato Salad, Lemonade, Water, Dessert)

Entertainment

  • 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM Carnival ($25 “Ride All Night” Special With Wristband ($20 With Coupon))
  • 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM Performance by Wilmington High School Alumni Band (sponsored by Rotary)

Events (Forms can be found HERE.)

  • 6:00 PM Horseshoes (First Round) (Participants must sign a Consent Form. Under 18 signed by a parent.)
  • 6:00 PM 3 on 3 Basketball – Age Categories: [16 & 17 (6:00 PM)]; [18 & up (6:30 PM)]; [40 & over (7:00 PM)]
  • 6:30 PM Road Race (Participants must sign a Consent Form. Under 18 must be signed by a parent.)
  • 7:30 PM Blueberry Pie Eating Contest (Participants must sign a Release of Liability Form. Under 18 signed by a parent.)

#3) Larry Gilbert performs at Rocco’s Restaurant & Bar (193 Main Street) beginning at 6pm.

#4) Ricky Lauria performs at Tremezzo (2 Lowell Street) beginning at 8pm.

#5) The Wilmington Memorial Library (175 Middlesex Avenue) is holding FOUR programs today:

  • Baby Times (9:30am-10:15am)
  • Time For Twos (10:30am-11:15am)
  • Introduction To LEGO Mind-Storms (2pm-4pm)

#6) The Wilmington Senior Center (15 School Street) is holding its regular Thursday activities:

  • Walking Group (9am)
  • Art Class (10am)
  • Aerobics (10:30am)
  • Knitting (11am)
  • Game Day (1pm)

#8) The Town Beach is open today.  Lifeguards are on duty from 10am to 8pm. Admission is FREE for residents. Proof of residency is required. Learn more HERE.

#9) The Fourth of July Committee Building (142 Middlesex Avenue) is open from 10am to 9pm.  Fun on the Fourth merchandise and meal tickets are on sale.  Registration for some of the celebration’s free events is available.
