WILMINGTON, MA — The WHS Varsity Softball team (15-5) won its first-round playoff opener against Bedford High, 10-1, on Friday, June 2 in Bedford.
Wilmington starter Ally Moran pitched was fantastic, pitching a complete game 2-hitter.
Moran also delivered at the plate with three hits and an RBI. Moran’s courtesy runner Aliyan Tang would score three times. Jen Dovidio (2 hits, 1 RBI, 2 stolen bases) and Shannon Horgan (2 hits, 2 RBI, 2 runs) also contributed offensively.
“The Wildcats put pressure on Bedford’s defense all game,” said Coach Audrey Cabral-Pini. “We had the short game going as well as some great base running. We were able to force some costly mistakes.”
NEXT UP: Wilmington (#9) will challenge the winner of today’s North Reading (#1)-Swampscott (#16) first-round match. Date and time TBD.
