WILMINGTON, MA — The WHS Varsity Baseball team defeated Wakefield High, 8-0, at Scanlon Park on Friday, May 12. The team has won three straight and finds itself with an overall record of 9-3, including an 8-3 league record. The team will qualify for the state tournament with its next win.
Starter Chris Grecco was fantastic on the mound, allowing just 3 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings. Grecco struck out 4 and earned his fourth victory of the season. Reliever Graham Smith pitched a hitless 7th inning, recording a strikeout.
The Wildcats offense exploded for 8 runs on 11 hits. Jared Aucoin (3-4, 2 RBI, 1 Run) led the way. Carl Beatrice (2 RBI) and Tom Worob (1 RBI) each collected 2 hits. Graham Smith, Matt Rideout, Stephen Bonish (2 RBI), and Rob Ducharme rounded the offense with a hit a piece.
UP NEXT: The Wildcats (9-3) next play Watertown High on Monday, May 15 at 7pm at Victory Field in Watertown.
