WHS GIRLS TENNIS: Wildcats Win 2 In-A-Row, Improve To 7-5

WILMINGTON, MA —The WHS Girls Varsity Tennis Team defeated Melrose High, 5-0, at in Melrose on Monday, May 8:

  • Wilmington sophomore Emily Hill defeated Olivia Zibatis, 6-2, 6-0.
  • Wilmington senior Sam Maragioglio defeated Julia McLaughlin, 4-6, 6-2, 6-0.
  • Wilmington sophomore Lia Kourkoutas defeated Isabel Bates, 6-0, 6-2.
  • Wilmington senior Christina Woods and freshman Carolyn Roney defeated Catherine Denning and Colleen Denning, 6-1, 6-1.
  • Wilmington juniors Lauren Field and Christina Wright defeated Annie Kavanaugh and Maeve McGillicuddy, 7-6, 6-2.

The team kept its winning ways going later in the week, defeating Wakefield High, 3-2, at in Wakefield on Wednesday, May 10:

  • Wilmington sophomore Emily Hill defeated Abby Chapman, 7-5, 6-1.
  • Wilmington senior Sam Maragioglio fell to Haley Tanner, 6-4, 6-3.
  • Wilmington sophomore Lia Kourkoutas defeated Jenna Mello, 6-1, 6-4.
  • Wilmington senior Christina Woods and freshman Carolyn Roney defeated Laura McGovern and Caroline Hurley, 6-2, 6-3.
  • Wilmington juniors Lauren Field and Christina Wright fell to Emily Roberts and Kelsey Callahan, 6-1, 7-6, 6-3.

NEXT UP: The WHS Girls Tennis Team (7-5) takes on Watertown High on Friday, May 12 at 3:30pm at Wilmington High.
