WILMINGTON, MA — Below are Wilmington Youth Soccer in-town game summaries from Saturday, April 22, 2017.
Girls Pre-K Games:
The crowds gathered at the Shawsheen fields for this back and forth game between the Harvard Pre-Kinder soccer team and itself, wearing Highlighter Blue and yellow pennies. Team Harvard, led by Braydon Doe, Charlie Kennedy, and Declan Riley got the crowd jumping out of their seats. Blake Santo, Leo Snapausky, and Landon Woods led the scoring charge, while the great defensive effort of Johnny Borgen, Graham Jackson, and Liam DeRose kept the action going. Wyatt Pilcher, Conley Usher are also great team contributors who will continue to keep the crowd on the edge of their seats.
Boys Kinder Games:
DC United vs. Chicago Fire
The crowds gathered at the Shawsheen fields for this back and forth game. D.C. United led by Thomas McGagh and Michael Belanger got the crowd jumping out of their seats. Matthew Roque and Jaxon Jones led the scoring charge, while the great defensive effort of Ryan Heos, Ethan Hunt and Cameron Boyle kept the action going.
Girls Kinder Games:
Houston Dash vs. Boston Breakers
The crowds gathered at the Shawsheen fields for this back and forth game. The Houston Dash led by Elizabeth DiSchino, Katherine McGrath and Olivia Zella got the crowd jumping out of their seats. Ashley Anderson and Kiera Barry led the scoring charge, while the great defensive effort of Charlotte Doucette and Ava Zella kept the action going
The Boston Breakers would not back down from this back and forth match. Goals by Eliana Goldstein and Leah Tucci brought the crowd to a frenzy. A spectacular display of defensive skills was shown by Gia Cabral and Emma Spencer . In addition, the midfield play of Julia Zaya kept constant pressure on the opponent’s net.
Boys Grade 2 Games:
New York Red Bulls vs. Chicago Fire
Top-notch play kept people watching this one. Excellent offensive plays by Jack Cronin, Fernando Gunera, Collin Holman, and Michael O’Hearn applied heavy pressure causing the New York Red Bulls to back pedal. Defensive positioning by Aiden O’Hearn, Joey Constantino, Aiden Harris, and Chase Levesque fended off any threat that came thru making it tough for the Red Bulls. Aiden Harris and Joseph Constantino also played a great game in net, keeping the game in hand.
The Red Bulls were also impressive on the offensive side of the ball with great skill being displayed by Joe Mytych, Richard Holland, and Gavin Poirier leading to goals by Ethan Laconte, Jake Driscoll, and Gavin Poirier. The defense showcased their skills with Preston Hunt, Jackson Hegarty, and Jake Driscoll keeping the ball out of their zone for much of the game; while the goal keeping team of Ethan Laconte and Max Bagtaz made this game close.
NE England Revolution vs. Houston Dynamo
What a cold and rainy day as the Revolution took on the Dynamo. The constant pressure from the Dynamo kept the Revolution defense of Kyle Price, Joshua Nille and Cooper Holleran on their feet, while the goal keeping team of Nicholas Melaragni and Dennis Reppucci absorbed the constant offensive attack. Upfront Nicholas Ientile capitalized on a great team effort that started from the midfield team of Cameron Molina, Daniel D’August and Zach Atwater. Up next for the Revolution will be another great encounter.
Girls Grade 2 Games:
Boston Breakers vs. Seattle Reign
The Reign’s defensive stand, lead by Kaetlyn Costello and Lyla Dickinson, not only struck fear in the Breakers, but will be feared by future opponents as well. It was this team defense that lead to counter attacks by Claire Connelly and Shannon Hounsell ultimately leading to goals scored by Daniella Madore, Isabella Goldstein, Anna Heiplik, Ellie Gillis and Emma Tarin. Solid goal tending helped strengthen a solid team effort.
