Wilmington POLICE LOG (Week of March 26, 2017)

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for the week of Sunday, March 26, 2017.

Sunday, March 26:

  • Resident reported three juveniles were running around in the area of the Harnden Tavern on Salem Street. (1:16am)
  • Kozo Ide (49, Arlington) was arrested for OUI Liquor, Negligent Operation of Motor Vehicle, Marked Lanes Violation, and Speeding. Ide was involved in a 2-car crash at Lowell Street and Woburn Street. No injuries noted. (12:25am)
  • A Pleasant Road caller reported a check of their property after their dog has been barking at something in the yard for an extend period of time. Property checked OK. (9:26pm)
  • Police dispersed three vehicles in the Wilmington High School parking lot. (9:27pm)

Monday, March 27:

  • Access was gained to a vehicle on Andover Street overnight and a wallet was taken. (6:30am)
  • Another party on Andover Street reported a vehicle break-in. No items were missing. (7:11am)
  • A caller reported multiple vehicles on Treasure Hill Road were broken into last night. (7:41am)
  • An Andover Street caller reported their three vehicles were entered overnight. (7:57am)
  • An Emerald Avenue resident reported his vehicle was entered overnight and several items were taken. (8:49am)
  • A walk-in party reported $225 was stolen from his credit card. (9:19am)
  • A walk-in party reported approximately six beer cans on the side of the road on Marion Street. Police notified DPW. (10:54am)
  • A Treasure Hill Road caller reported his vehicle was entered overnight. Sunglasses and $10 in change was taken. (10:55am)
  • An employee’s debit card was stolen from his work locker at Stafford Manufacturing on Friday. (12:25pm)
  • Jupson Bernardin (27, Dorchester) was arrested on warrants.
  • A walk-in party reported a missing juvenile from the Milestone Group Home on High Street. (1:52pm)

Tuesday, March 28:

  • Kenneth Byenkya (38, Bedford) was issued a summons for the unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and willfully obstructing an emergency vehicle. Byenkya was pulled over on Route 125 near Exit 41. Byenkya only had a driving permit from Uganda. (2:50am)
  • A vehicle struck a dog on Woburn Street. Animal Control Office responded. (6:41am)
  • Kristan L. Ferrante (45, Newburyport) was issued a summons for the unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. (10:57am)
  • A Grove Avenue resident reported their debit card was used without permission. (11:41am)
  • Police issued 5 parking citations in the MBTA Parking Lot on Main Street. (12:49pm)
  • Police issued 5 speeding citations on Wildwood Street. (2:32pm)
  • A walk-in party reported two unlocked vehicles were entered early yesterday morning on Treasure Hill Road. Lose change and a ring was missing from the vehicles. (3:40pm)
  • A caller reported a vehicle struck a turkey on Ballardvale Street near Fed-Ex. Police were unable to locate. (5:16pm)

Wednesday, March 29:

  • A caller struck a dog on Industrial Way and Woburn Street. Owner retrieved dog and brought to Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital. Animal Control Officer follow up with dog and its owner at hospital. (7:36am)
  • A Wild Avenue caller requested extra patrols of area after finding excess discarded liquor bottles and trash on road. (8:00am)
  • Animal Control Office removed a bird from a chimney of a Woburn Street home. (9:13am)
  • Police installed four car seats during its weekly drop-in hours. (1:41pm)
  • A caller reported several juveniles in Shawsheen Skate Park using marijuana and offering it to her son. Police spoke to possible involved juveniles, who deny involvement. Police advise them of the rules. (3:07pm)
  • A party reported his debit card was compromised with 5 withdrawals totaling $761.04. (3:22pm)
  • A Border Avenue caller reported 2 ATVs operating in the roadway. Vehicles were gone by the time police arrived. (8:06pm)

Thursday, March 30:

  • Police received a call that an elderly man was on the side of the road on Main Street, appearing confused. Police responded. Situation checked OK. Man was out for morning run. (4:31am)
  • A Clark Street resident reported a neighbor was allowing his dog to go the bathroom of his property. Police spoke to the dog’s owner, who assured them it wouldn’t be an issue moving forward. (8:01am)
  • A caller reported a crate and shattered glass was in the roadway on Fordham Road. Police notified DPW. (3:16pm)
  • A caller reported suspicious behavior with a man standing on the corner of Middlesex Avenue and Federal Street for hours at time over the past few days. Police responded. Situation checked OK. Man was “just watching traffic.” (5:11pm)
  • Charley Taing (26, Lowell) was taken into protective custody after walking on the train tracks on Concord Street. (5:24pm)
  • A walk-in party reported a woman offered her 14-year-old daughter cigarettes at Avalon Oaks. Police referred the matter to the apartment’s management. (7:00pm)
  • A caller reported 3 juveniles in a green Chevy truck throwing eggs at passing vehicles on Main Street. Police spoke to the parents of the juveniles. (10:07pm)

Friday, March 31:

  • Police received multiple calls over an injured deer in the roadway of Shawsheen Avenue. Deer was euthanized. (6:39am)
  • A tractor trailer struck a parked vehicle on Main Street. Police assisted with paperwork exchange. (10:19am)
  • A 2013 Nissan Frontier and a 2016 Nissan Pathfinder were involved in a crash at Woburn Street and Lowell Street. No injuries. One driver was cited for a red light violation. (11:59am)
  • A Panera Bread manager reported several juveniles refused to leave store. Police responded and dispersed 15 juveniles who were loitering in the store. (2:43pm)
  • Police issued a citation for a vehicle blocking a fire hydrant at Regency Place. (6:16pm)
  • A caller reported suspicious activity inside Eastern Bank on Main Street. Police responded. The two individuals inside the building were cleaners. (9:16pm)
  • A gray 2012 Toyota Highlander spun into a yard and possibly struck a tree on Shawsheen Avenue. No injuries. Vehicle towed. (9:37pm)

Saturday, April 1:

  • A gray 2005 Mitsubishi Galant side swiped a pole on Burlington Avenue. No injuries. Police notified Verizon. (9:15am)
  • A Faulkner Avenue resident reported his mailbox was struck and knocked over overnight. (9:40am)
  • Police issued a citation to a driver for failure to remove ice and snow from windshield. (1:02pm)
  • Police issued a citation to a driver for texting while driving. (2:17pm)
  • The speed limit sign on Nichols Street was reportedly knocked over. Police notified DPW. (2:56pm)
  • A green 1997 Jeep Wrangler and a yellow 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser were involved in a crash on Main Street. Median sign damaged. Police notified DPW. (4:07pm)
  • A gray 2012 Toyota Camry hit a pole and guardrail on Woburn Street. Air bag deployed, but no injuries. Vehicle towed. Tow truck collided with side of ambulance. (5:50pm)
  • A Chisholm Way caller reported a turkey may have been struck by a vehicle. It is limping around her yard. Bird was gone by the time police arrived. (7:14pm)
