WILMINGTON, MA – The Wilmington School Committee sent the following messages to parents this morning:
The Wilmington School Committee expresses its best wishes for a speedy recovery for Interim Superintendent Joanne Benton as she deals with the health issues that have resulted in her resignation. She has graciously offered her support and guidance to the next leader of Wilmington’s schools. Wilmington Public Schools is fortunate to have talented and dedicated leaders who are able to guide the district as we find ourselves facing yet another transitional period.
Effective April 1, our Director of Administration and Finance, Paul Ruggiero, will serve as our Interim Superintendent, with the continued support of our able Assistant Superintendent, Sean Gallagher, and the entire leadership and Central Office team.
With this short-term solution in place, the School Committee will continue strategizing long-term plans, including the resumption of a search for a Superintendent in the 2017-2018 academic year.
Wilmington Apple hopes to have more on the story in the coming days.
