WILMINGTON, MA — William J. Powers, Jr., “Billy”, age 84, of Wilmington, formerly of Everett and Revere, died peacefully on March 18, 2017.
Billy was the beloved son of the late William J., Sr. and Mary Agnes (Peddle) Powers, dear brother of James F. Powers & wife Jeanne of Basehor, KS, Susanne Carbone & husband Robert of Wilmington, the late Maryann Powers and Doris Tano, loving companion of the late Cathy Darragh. Billy is also survived by many nieces, nephews, two grand-nephews and one grand-niece.
Billy proudly served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired as the Timekeeper for the Boston Longshoremen and was a member of the International Longshoremen’s Association.
Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Wednesday, March 22nd for Visitation from 9:00-10:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St. (Rte. 38), Wilmington at 11:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
In lieu of flowers donations in William’s name may be made to The Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226.
